Mr Samiran Dasgupta

GM, Facilities for the Group & GM, Facilities & Administration for IQ City

Samiran Dasgupta has his hands full though his tryst with Mani has recently begun. However, he finds his assignment challenging and reveals, “I try and make it to Durgapur at least once a week to meet my internal and external customers. It is important to ensure that customers are satisfied at every stage of our work and taken into confidence. The hospital in Durgapur as well as the Medical College also needs my presence and support. I don’t think there is in the vicinity such a comprehensive, state-of-the-art medical facility. Part of the hospital is already operational and work is fast progressing so that the rest of the facilities are ready as soon as possible. This hospital will be of great help to people living in and around Durgapur who have had to seek medical expertise in Kolkata thus far. It is a heartening fact that the first batch of students at the Medical College have already completed one year of their course and admissions are on for the next batch. The challenge is to put structures in place and motivate my team. I see a very bright future for all the development that is happening in Durgapur.”

Samiran Dasgupta, whose last assignment was as Regional Head of Eastern India at IBM, comes to the Group with his years of experience in professional management. Existing and upcoming sites are also his responsibility, whether in Jaipur, Bhubaneswar or in West Bengal. He finds working with  Mr Jhunjhunwala extremely exhilarating. As he puts it, “As a leader, Sanjay-ji is extremely meticulous and has a keen eye for detail. His knowledge of most subjects pertaining to our Group’s business is vast and he gets into the depth of everything and often asks technical and tricky questions! Unless he is convinced, he will not approve of any project.”

Besides work, Samiran Dasgupta is a keen cricketer who has not only played the game with professional proficiency but is also part of Pankaj Roy’s coaching team for over twenty years.
